HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 505 741 RESOLUTION NO. \ i - 26.16 -- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY PETITIONING THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION TO ASSIGN CERTAIN RADIO FREQUENCIES TO THE POLICE AND FIRE RADIO SERVICES WHEREAS, the City of Downey, California, having a population of 97,563 persons, has a municipal Police Department and a municipal Fire Department presently licensed under Part Ten of the Rules and Regulations of the Federal Communications Commission, and; WHEREAS, the Police Department is operating its Police Radio System on a frequency of 155.73 mc. which it shares with the cities of El Monte, Montebello and Whittier, there being 113 mobile units licensed in this area on this simplex channel, and; WHEREAS, the Fire Department is operating its Radio Service on the frequency of 154.25 mc. which it shares with the cities of Bell, Compton, Huntington Park, Los Alamos, Lynwood, Maywood, Montebello, Santa Fe Springs, South Gate and Whittier, and the county of Santa Barbara, there being 154 mobile units licensed on this frequency; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Downey does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That the Federal Communications Commission be petitioned to assign as soon as possible to the Police and Fire Radio Services of the City of Downey the as yet unassigned split — channels located between the existing Police and Fire Frequencies in the 152.162 mc. band. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby instructed to file fourteen (14) certified copies of said petition with the Federal Communications Commission, Washington 25, D. C.
