RESOLUTION NO. 436
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
CONGRATULATING PEGGY JACOBSON FOR HAVING RECENTLY
RECEIVED THE NATIONAL TITLE OF "MODERN AMERICAN GIRL"
WHEREAS,, Peggy Jacobson has been given the national title
of "Modern American Girl" in national competition; and
T. WHEREAS, Peggy Jacobson is presently, and has been since
the age of six, a resident of Downey; and
WHEREAS, having graduated from the Downey Senior High School
where she was on the "Scholarship List "; and
WHEREAS, Peggy Jacobson was selected as "Miss California" in
the "Miss Universe" contest for the year 1957; and
WHEREAS, the community and City of Downey have been recognized
as Peggy Jacobson's home; and
WHEREAS, Peggy Jacobson has therefore brought commendable
attention to the City of Downey;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does congratulate Miss Jacobson
for her winning of these many honors and commends her for the exemplory
qualities which she has shown in all her endeavors.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and cause a certified copy thereof to be forwarded to
Miss Peggy Jacobson.
