RESOLUTION NO. 2,50
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE
DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE AN ADEQUATE POST OFFICE
BUILDING IN THE CITY OF DOWNEY
WHEREAS, the City of Downey was incorporated on December 17,
1956; and
WHEREAS, by reason of such incorporation and annexations to
said city there is now an estimated population within said city of
in excess of 96,000 people; and
MNEREAS, the post office facilities now within the City of
Downey are inadequate to properly serve a city of over 96,000; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the citizens of said city and the
City Council of said city that adequate postal facilities be pro-
vided
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Downey re-
spectfully requests the Postmaster General of the United States to
cause there to be provided within the City of Downey, California,
a post office building of adequate size and a department with an
adequate staff to serve the needs of said city.
,.� SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and cause a certified copy thereof to be sent to
the Postmaster General of the United States, Senator Kuchel, Senator
Knowland, and Congressman Doyle.
