HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 322 4 41:31 3 .2 RESOLUTION NO. g17,wz A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY PROVIDING FOR MUTUAL AID OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT SERVICES Ti E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, a major disaster or local emergency may occur momen- tarily which cannot be met with a governmental agency's own facili- ties, and it is desirable that there be agreements between nearby governmental agencies and their several departmentt to render mutual aid in the event of such occurrence to the extent that may be pos- sible without depriving unduly the governmental agency extending such aid of the benefit and use of its own facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS AGREED AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of this reso- lution, the Police Chief of the City of Downey or, in his absence or inability to act, then his authorized representative, be, and he hereby is authorized and directed to use the equipment and the per- sonnel of his Department, or the equipment and personnel of the City of Downey Police Department under his supervision or control, or such part thereof as he deems is necessary or advisable for the purpose of cooperating with the Police Department of any city or other political subdivision within the County of Los Angeles, which city or other political subdivision shall have made a similar recip- rocal agreement to furnish similar services to the City of Downey under like conditions, and such arrangement shall be evidenced by either a certified copy of a resolution or ordinance of the legis- lative body of said city or political subdivision, substantially the same as this resolution. SECTION 2. In the event of any major disaster or local emergency which cannot be met with the facilities of the local Po- lice Department, the Police Chief or his authorized representative -1- 450 hereby is authorized to call upon such other Police Departments or Sheriff's Office for assistance as he may deem necessary. SECTION 3. That this resolution shall become effective immediately. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the pas- sage and adoption of this resolution, shall cause the original of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the said City of Downey, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
