RESOLUTION NO. "' 1 aZ
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DOWNEY REQUESTING THE ABATEMENT OF THE
CRITICAL FLOOD HAZARDS WITHIN THE CITY OF
DOWNEY.
AREAS, the development of Downey was accomplished while the area
was still unincorporated territory, therefore, under the guiding hand of the
County Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, this development has taken place subsequout to 1952, the
year in which the County Board of Supervisors received the approval of the
Storm Drain Bond Issue; and
WHEREAS, Downey is required to accommodate surface drainage from
large areas to the north of the City, and over which the City of :Downey has
no control; and
WHEREAS, the streets and private property in Downey are being sub-
* jected to more frequent flooding each year.
Naff, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DO iNEY DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Downey does hereby
request the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Los Angeles County
Flood Control District to take such steps as are necessary to abate this ever
increasing flood problem by the construction of suitable storm drains and appur-
tenant facilities.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and cause a certified copy thereS to be forward to the following:
1. Chief Clerk of the County Board of Supervisors

3. Chief Engineer of the Con.ty Flood Control District
