A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DOWNEY FOR THE . CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY ..Si W i I&S
IN LAKOWOOD BOULEVARD, DOWNEY IMPROVEMENT NO. 6.
AREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey, State of California,
has on file and spread upon the minutes of the = Council a report from the
Health Officer of the City of Downey recommending the institution of pro-
_ ceedings for the improvement as a health measure, and
WHEREAS, the Council has found and determined by resolution that the
public interest requires the construction of sanitary sewers in LAKEWOOD
BOULEVARD and that the improvement is necessary as .a health measure.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and necessity require and that
it is the.intention of the Council to order the following work to be done
and improvement made, to wit:
First: The construction of sanitary sewers and appurtenances in
LAKEWOOD BOULEVARD
between a point approximately 180 feet northerly, measured along the westerly
line of LAKEWOOD BOULEVARD, from the northeasterly line of Lot 19, Bixby's
Subdivision in the Rancho_Los Cerritos as shown on map recorded in Book 2,
pages 234 and 235 of Miscellaneous Records and ROSECRANS AVENUE.
Second: The resurfacing of the trench in the streets and rights of way
wherein aforementioned sanitary sewers are constructed.
All of said work shall be performed in the streets and rights of way
and between the limits, hereinbefore designated except where the plans indi-

cate that said work shall be omitted.
THAT SUCH WORK OR IMPROVEMENT, IT IS ESTIMATED, 'BILL COST THE SUM OF
NINE TBOUSAND. IVO HUNDRED NINETY DOLLARS 0
SECTION 2. That all the work and improvements aforesaid shall be done
and performed as shown on and in accordance with and to the grades shown on
the plans, profiles and specifications therefor, filed in the office of the
City Council in the City of Downey on the /4T' day of ,
1958. Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles`) d speciftcations
for a full and detailed description of said proposed work or improvement,
and said plans, profiles and specifications shall govern for all details of
the proposed work or improvement and for the description of the grade to which
this work is to be done, and are made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. That the said contemplated work or improvement, in the opinion
of the Council, is of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and the Coun-
cil hereby makes the expense of the work or improvement chargeable upon a dis-
. trict, which district the Council hereby declares to be the district benefited
by the work or improvement and to be assessed to pay the cost and expenses thereof.
A map of the district, indicating by a boundary line the extent of the
territory included in the proposed district approved by the Council on thej,
day of t,c, c _ , 1958, is on file in the office of the Council. Ref -
erencis hereb ' made to the map for a full and complete description of the
assessment district and the map shall govern for all details as to the extent
of the assessment district.
SECTION 4. That serial bonds shall be issued in accordance with Division
7, Streets and Highways Code, to represent each assessment of fifty dollars
($50.00) or more remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of the
recording of the warrant. The serial bonds shall extend over a period ending
nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the next October
fifteenth following their date, and shall bear interest at the rate of six (6)
per cent per annum on all sums unpaid, until the whole of the principal' and_ _

interest is paid.
The principal sum shall become due and payable in equal annual payments
on the 15th day of 'each November succeeding the October 15th following their
date until fully paid.
• The first interest payment shall be payable on the 15th day -of May next
succeeding the April 15th or the 15th day of November next succeeding the
October 15th, as the case may be, next following the date of the bonds. The
following interest payments shall each be for six months interest and shall be
77 payable on each fifteenth day of May and November, the last interest payment
coming due 45 days before the last annual payment of the principal.
.SECTION 5. That the proceedings for the aforesaid work or improvement
shall be under and in accordance with Division 7, Streets and Highways Code.
SECTION 6. The streets hereinbefore referred to are public streets in
the City of Downey. .
SECTION 7. That it is the opinion of the Council that the public interest
will not be served by allowing the property owners to take the contract for the
work to be done under these proceedings.

Chambers of the City Council in the City Hall, in the City of:Downey, is the
place fixed by the Council where and where any and all persons_having any
objections to the proposed work or improvement or to the extent of the district
to be assessed, or to the proposed grades to which the work is to be done, or
to any or all of the foregoing, may appear before the Council and show cause
why the proposed work or improvement should not be carried out in accordance
with this Resolution.
SECTION 9. That the Street Superintendent shall cause to be conspicuously
posted along the line of the contemplated work or improvement and along all .
7 open streets within the district liable to be assessed, notices of the adoption
of this Resolution in the manner and in the manner and in the form required by
law.
SECTION 10. The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published for two days in the
Downey Live Wire, a newspaper published or circulated in the City of Downey,
which is hereby designated for that purpose by the Council.
The Council does hereby direct the Clerk thereof to mail notices of the
adoption of this Resolution of Intention to all persons owning real property
to be assessed for the work herein described whose mimes and addresses appear
on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Los Angeles or as known
to the Clerk, the contents of said notices to be as required by law.
