A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DOWNEY WITHDRAWING A PORTION OF
SAID CITY FROM THE LOS ANGELES FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT.
■ WHEREAS the City of Downey became incorporated on

December 17, 1956; and
WHEREAS on October 21, 1957, the hereinafter
described property became annexed to and a part of said City
of Downey, said area being known as the Telegraph Road -Santa
Ana Freeway annexation; and
WHEREAS said area so annexed prior to its annexation
to said city was placed within and was a part of the County
Fire Protection District formed pursuant to Chapter 2, Part 3
of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS Section 1.540 of said Code now provides that
whenever any portion of a district is annexed to a city not
within a district, such portion may be withdrawn from the dis-
trict.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Downey
does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of
Downey hereby declares that that area hereinafter described,
prior to October 21, 1957, was unincorporated territory within
the County of Los Angeles, State of California, and that on
said date said area became annexed to and a part of the City
of Downey; that pursuant to the provisions of Section 14540
of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California, said
City Council hereby declares that the hereinafter described
area, being a portion of the incorporated area of the City of
Downey by reason of annexation, hereby is withdrawn from the
County Fire Protection District. Said area so withdrawn is
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of that certain course
described in deed to the State of California recorded
in Book 35856, page 436 of Official Records in the
office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles
as having a hearing of North 16° 41' West, with the
center line of the Rio Hondo Channel (500 feet wide)
as shown on the County Surveyor's Filed Map No. 18225,
sheet 8, on file in the office of the Engineer of said
county; thence southerly along the boundary of the City
of Downey as same existed on March 8, 1957 and
following the same in all its various courses and
curves to a line that is parallel with and 200 feet
easterly measured at right angles from the center line
of a strip of land 400 feet wide, as said last
mentioned center line is described in Parcel 231 in
Final Judgment in favor of Los Angeles County Flood
Control District entered in Case No. 563.49 of the
Superior Court of the State of California in and for
the County of Los Angeles, a certified copy of which
is recorded in Book 34946, page 326 of said Official
Records; thence northerly and northeasterly along a
line that is parallel and concentric with and 200 feet
easterly and southeasterly measured at right angles
and radially from said last mentioned center line, to
the center line of the strip of land 100 feet wide as
described in Document No. 14743 -E filed on October 2,
1936 under provisions of the Land Title Act, recorded

in the office of said Recorder; thence northwesterly
along said last mentioned center line to the center
line of Telegraph Road (formerly Anaheim Telegraph
Road) declared a public highway as noted in Minute
Book 5, page 143 on file in the office of the Board
of Supervisors of said County; thence northwesterly
along said last mentioned center line to a line that
is parallel with and 30 feet northeasterly measured at
right angles from the southwesterly line of Telegraph
Road (formerly Anaheim Telegraph Road). as described in
deed to the County of Los Angeles recorded in
Book 2869, page 263 of said Official Records; thence
northwesterly along said last mentioned parallel line
to said centerline of the Rio Hondo Channel; thence
southwesterly along said last mentioned center line to
the point of beginning.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and the City Manager and City Clerk
shall cause certified copies of this resolution to be filed with
the State Board of Equalization, the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Los Angeles (the governing body of said district),
the County Clerk of the County of Los Angeles, the Registrar
of Voters of the County of Los Angeles, and the County
Assessor of the County of Los Angeles.
