WHEREAS , Chief Richard, Simon of the Los Angeles Police Depar did materially assist in the recruitment of Downey's first Chief of Police;and WHEREAS, Chief Simon is a resident axid property owner of the City of Downey; and WHEREAS, Chief Simon was asked to assist in the formation of the new Police Department acting in the capacity of a consultant to Downey's Chief of Police; and WHEREAS, Chief Simon did give of his valuable time to assist innumerous ways the development and organization of the Downey Police Department; and WHEREAS, Chief Simon was retained on a contract basis of $100 per month far these same services; and WHEREAS, Chief Simon did return the warrant of the City of Downe y and specify that he was returning the warrant unsigned because he wished to donate his services to the City of Downey as a part of his civic responsibility NOW THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Downey does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION I. That Deputy Chief Richard Simon of the Los Angeles Police Department he commended for his generous action in behalf of the City of Downey and that the City Council expresses its sincere appreciation for the excellent • assistance which Chief Simon, rendered the Chief of Police and theCity of Downey. S ECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and cause a certified copy thereof to be forwarded to Chief Richard Simon. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY APPROVING A PROPOSED AGREEMENT BETWEEN SAID CITY AND THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FUNCTIONS OF BUILD ING INSPECTION. .."11 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1 . That certain proposed agreement between the City of Downey and the County of Los Angeles for the furnishing by the County to the City of the functions of Building Inspection, is hereby approved and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk to attest the same on behalf of the City of Downey. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption. of this resolution and shall transmit a certified copy thereof to the County Engineer of the County of Los Angeles. EASTERLY SIDE OF OLD RIVER SCHOOL ROAD AND THE SOUTHERLY SIDE OF FLORENCE:. AVENUE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: - - SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Downey, upon recommendation._ of the Pla Commission, hereby does declare its intention to vacate certain access rights on the easterly side of Old River School Road . and the southerly side of Florence Avenue in the. City of Downey, as shown on a map of plan on file in the office of the City Clerk to which reference is made for further particulars; said area within. which such access rights shall be vacated is described as follows: That portion, of Lot 24 of Tract. No. 18430 , in the city of Downey, county of Los Angeles, state of California, as per map recorded in book 48 page 6 of Maps, in the office of the county recorder of said county, described as follows: Beginning at, a point in the northeasterly line of said Lot 24 that is distant South 58 degrees 58' 00" East 190.00 feet from the intersection of the northwesterly prolongation of the tangent portion, of said northeasterly line with the center line of Old River School Road as shown on said map; thence parallel with said center line South 31 degrees 31' 10" West 150.00 feet; thence parallel with said tangent portion of said northeasterly line North 58 degrees 58' 00" West 150.00 feet to the northwesterly line of said lot 24; thence along said northwesterly line North 31 degrees 31' 10" East 125.21 feet to the beginning of a tangent curve concave southerly having a radius of 25.00 feet; thence easterly along said curve 39.06 feet; thence still along the boundary line of said lot South 58. degrees 58' 00" East 125.21 feet to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Downey hereby does elect to proceed to vacate the said portion of said access rights under the pro visions of Part 3, Division. 9 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California. SECTION 3. The hour of 7:30 o'clock P6 M. oz. Monday, the 12th day of August, 1957, hereby is fixed as the time, and the Council Chamber in the City Hall, at 8419 East Second Street, Downey, California, hereby is fixed as the place for hearing all persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation of said access rights. SECTION 4. Notices of street vacation shall be posted in the manner prescribed by Section 8322 of said Streets and Highways Code. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall transmit a certified copy thereof to the County of Los Angeles. APPROVED and ADOPTED this day of , 1957.
