RESOLUTION NO. 0
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL
ELECTION IN CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS
TO SAID CITY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED THERETO, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELEC-
TORS RESIDING IN SAID TERRITORY THE QUESTION

THE CITY OF DOWNEY, AND FIXING A TIME AND PLACE
WAN AND WHERE ANY PERSON OWNING REAL PROPERTY
WITHIN SUCH `BRRITORY MAY APPEAR BEFORE SAID CITY
COUNCIL AND SHOW CAUSE WHY SUCH TERRITORY SHOULD
NOT BE SO ANNEXED.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That it is the intention of the City Council of
the City of Downey to call a special election to be held tho 3„ d
day of September 1957" in certain inhabited territory contiguous to
said city, proposed to be annexed thereto, for the purpose of submitting
to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question
whether or not said territory shall be annexed to the City of Downey.
Beginning at the intersection Of that certain course described
in deed to the State of California recorded in Book 35856, page 436 of Of-
ficial Records in the office of Recorder of the County of Los Angeles
:
as having a bearing of North 16 ® 41 37Iltest, with the center line of the
Rio Hondo Channel (500 feet wide) as shown on County Surveyor's Filed Map
No. 18225, sheet 8, on file in the , ffice of the Engineer of said county;
thence southerly along the boundary of the City of Downey as same existed
on March 8, 1957 and following the same in all its various courses and
curves to a line that is parallel with and 200 feet easterly measured at
^--� right angles from the center line of a strip of land 400 feet wide, as said
last mentioned center line is described in Parcel 231 in Final Judgement in
favor of Los Angeles County Flood Control District entered in Case 1U.
-- 563449 of . the Superior Court of the State of California in and for the
County of Los Angeles, a certified copy of which is recorded in Book 34946,
page 326 of said Official Records; thence northerly and northeasterly along
a line that is parallel and concentric with and 200 feet easterly and south-
easterly measured at right angles and radially from said last mentioned cen-
ter line, to the center line of the strip of land 100 feet wide as describ-
ed in Document•No. 14743 -E filed on October 2, 1936 under provisions of the
Land Title Act, recorded in the office of said recorder; thence northwester-
ly along said last mentioned center line to the center line of Telegraph
Road (formerly Anaheim Telegraph Road) declared a public highway as noted
in Minute Book 5, page 143 on file in the office of the Board of Super-
visors of said county; thence northwesterly along said last mentioned cen-
ter line to a line that is parallel with and 30 feet northeasterly measur-
ed at right angles from the southwesterly line of Telegraph Road (formerly
Anaheim Telegraph Road) as described in deed to the County of Los Angeles
recorded in Book 2869, page 263 of said Official Records; thence nbrthwest-
erly along said last mentioned parallel line to said center line of the Rio
Hondo Channel; thence southwesterly along said last mentioned center line
to the 1' F?' said territory hereby is designated and
identified for such election purposes and for use upon the ballots at
such election as "Telegraph Road - Santa Ana Freeway Annexation."
SECTION 3. Notice hereby is given that on the 24th day of
June, 1957, at the hour of 8 :00 P.M., in the Council Chamber of the
City Hall of the City of Downey, any person owning real property within
said territory so proposed to be annexed and having any objection to
the proposed annexation may appear before said City Council and show
cause why such territory should not be so annexed. Such protest must

be in writing and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners
of the property affected by such annexation and the location and area
of such property in general terms. It it be found that protest is not
made by the owners of one -half of the value of the territory proposed )
to be annexed as shown by the last equalized assessment roll, further
proceedings shall be taken in accordance with the law for the holding of
such special election.

SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and cause the same to be published in
once a week for the two weeks prig to the hearing.
