RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY PROHIBITING PARKING NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF LAKEWOOD BOULEVARD AND FIRESTONE BOULEVARD IN SAID CITY. r "" THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That upon determination by, and recommendation of, the City Traffic Engineer it is necessary to prohibit parking as hereinafter in this resolution set forth; it hereby is determined by the City Council of said City that the prohibition of parking as hereinafter set forth, is necessary to avoid undue interference through movements of traffic along Lakewood Boulevard and Fire- stone Boulevard in said city. SECTION 2. That pursuant to the provisions of Section 289.5 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California and Chapter 1 of Article III of the Dow- ' ney Municipal Code parking, stopping, or standing of any motor vehicle hereby is prohibited and the prohibited and the proper posting and marking by the City Traf- fic Engineer shall be made along the easterly side of Lakewood Boulevard from its intersection with Firestone Boulevard to a point 320 feet northerly therefrom and , along the westerly and easterly sides of Lakewood Boulevard Cr as their respective points of intersection with Firestone Boulevard for a distance of 500 feet south- erly therefrom and along the northerly side of Firestone Boulevard for a distance of 80 feet westerly from the westerly line of the second driveway westerly of the intersection of Firestone Boulevard and Lakewood Boulevard and along the southerly side of Firestone Boulevard between the intersection of said boulevard with Lake- wood Boulevard and Nash Avenue and along the southerly side of Firestone Boulevard easterly of the east line of the first driveway easterly from the intersection of said Firestone Boulevard and Lakewood Boulevard for a distance of 75 feet. SECTION 3. Am' provision of this ordinance which regulates traffic or delegates the regulation of traffic upon state highways in any way for which the ap- proval of the Department of Public Works is required by state law, shall cease to be operative six months after receipt by the City Council d written notice of with- drawal of approval of the Department of Public Works. SECTION 4. Whenever this resolution delegates authority to a city of- ficer, or authorizes action by the city council to regulate traffic upon a state highway in any 'way which by state law requires the prior approval of the Department of Public Works, no such officer shall exercise such authority nor shall such ac- tion by the city council be effective with respect to any state highway without the prior approval in writing of the Department of Public Works when and to the extent required by Division 9 and Division 11 of the Vehicle Code.
