RECOMMENDATION
Receive and file report on update of Columbia Memorial Space Science Learning Center.
BACKGROUND
The Columbia Memorial Space Science Learning Center opened to the public in October
2009. Since the opening, staff has worked to complete the initial group of exhibits and
implement educational programs and historic workshops related to the history of the site. In
addition, marketing of the Challenger Learning Center has been on-going with several
missions being completed and many more planned for the next school year. Overall, the
Center continues to attract more and more visitors each month and groups continue to
inquire about hosting meetings as word spreads throughout the region about the Center.

Learning Center including fundraising / grant opportunities, program / exhibit development,
and on-going marketing / outreach to schools, former employees, and civic groups.
Additionally, staff will answer any questions council may have regarding the Center.
