General Plan rpt memo AGENDA MEMO DATE: May 11, 2010 TO: MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER By: Brian Saeki, Community Development Director SUBJECT: 2009 GENERAL PLAN ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT RECOMMENDATION The Planning Commission recommends that the City Council receive and file the report. DISCUSSION The 2009 General Plan Annual Progress Report has been prepared in compliance with California Government Code Section 65400(a)(2), which mandates that the Planning Commission submit to the City Council, State Office of Planning and Research, and the Department of Housing and Community Development the status of the General Plan and the progress the City has made on implementing the goals and policies of the General Plan. The report not only summarizes the City’s progress with regards to implementation of the goals, policies and programs of Vision 2025, the City’s General Plan; but also summarizes the activities of the Planning Commission and the Community Development Department from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. On April 21, 2010, the Planning Commission approved the report and directed staff to forward the report to the City Council for review. Should the City Council approve the report, staff will forward a copy to the required State Agencies.
