A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
APPROVING THE FISCAL YEAR 2009/2010 PROPOSITION IB LOCAL
STREETS AND ROADS FUNDING EXPENDITURE PLAN.
WHEREAS, Proposition 1 B was approved by the people of the State of California in
2006; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 1 B provides $19.925 billion in bond funds for a variety of
transportation priorities, including $2 billion for cities and counties to fund the maintenance and
improvement of local transportation facilities; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 88 previously appropriated a total of $1.3 billion of the
Proposition 1 B funds to cities and counties over Fiscal Year (FY) 2007/2008 and 2008/2009;
and
WHEREAS, The 2009 Budget Act appropriates a total of $700 million in Proposition 1 B
funding for FY 2009/2010, $258.2 million for cities and $441.8 million for counties, which
represents the remaining balance of Proposition IB Local Streets and Roads funding; and
WHEREAS, The City of Downey is slated to receive $1,688,623.18 in Proposition 1 B
Local Street and Roads funds for FY 2009/2010; and
WHEREAS, in order to receive these funds, the legislative body of each respective
county or city must first approve a plan for use of the amount of funds available in FY 2009/2010
for their respective jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, The City of Downey is proposing to expend the entire allocation of its FY
2009/2010 Proposition IB Local Streets and Roads funds apportionment on the Downey
Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project – 7th Street to Gallatin Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. To approve the FY 2009/2010 Proposition 1 B Local Street and Roads
Funding Expenditure Plan.
SECTION 2.That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of March, 2010.
