Character Counts Display AGENDA MEMO DATE: February 9, 2010 TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council FROM: Office of the City Manager By: Thad Phillips, Community Services Director SUBJECT:SIX PILLARS OF CHARACTER COUNTS CITY COUNCIL DISPLAY RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve the design and appropriate $3,900 for the construction and installation of six (6) pillars to display the Character Counts traits. DISCUSSION The City Council on January 12, 2010 approved displaying the six (6) Character Counts program pillars in the City Council Chambers subject to final design approval by the City Council. Staff met with Carmody Construction Company who designed and constructed the railing in the council chambers. The proposal is for six (6) new white ash millwork pillars to match the existing millwork in the council chambers. The dimensions of the pillars are 84” high by 18” wide. The recessed polished gold lettering is 3.85” high by .66” wide, routered .33” deep. Three pillars would be installed midway on each side of the council chambers.
